Art of the Digital Age Ch 1-2
On page 8, Bruce Wands discusses the capabilities of digital art, like its versatility to be seen anywhere with an Internet connection, which is why I am so drawn to it, and as technology improves, new ways of creating art also accompanies it. Wands also mentions that the beauty of digital art is that sometimes pieces need participation from the audience, which I think is awesome because whenever I go into a gallery, I am always tempted to touch the art pieces, but sometimes this is not allowed for obvious reasons like vandalism (10). I like how he breaks down digital art into four levels called "sensory, emotional, mental and spiritual," because to me, digital art is hard to define because of the wide range of art that falls under this kind of art, but Wands definition of four levels help to narrow it down (10). The piece called Condottiere by Sherban Epure, is a great example of art that I find very appealing because how Epure uses mathematical algorithms, and this is also a great form of digital art (Epure 10). On page 34, Bruce Wands discusses the commonly used things needed for digital art, and that is very important for people who want to create digital art. I am drawn to 3-d based programs like Maya and Blender because I am very fascinated by the creation and animation aspect that these programs allow.
